- Use hand dryers. What's with all this paper towel crap? Paper towels are probably the least efficient use of a resource that can easily be removed from every bathroom and replaced with hand dryers.
- Recycle EVERYTHING. Don't be lazy, it's not that hard. I see plastic bottles in trash cans everyday. Schools, businesses, and other institutions can easily promote this by having an equal number, or more, recycling bins than trash cans.
- Turn off electronics. Lights included. Anything with a switch that can be turned off should be when not in use. Take a half second to flip that switch. Some electronics like TVs and home computers still use power when turned off. Unplug them.
- Bundle up! Many Americans have the luxury of furnaces. But we also have the luxury of clothes. Granted, in winter we need our heat. But during the fall or early spring when it's started to get cold or just warming up, wear sweatshirts around the house. We can save both electricity AND money this way.
- Drive less. It's a lot to ask, but if you have to opportunity to carpool or take a bus, you might as well. OR ride a bike, longboard, run, walk, jump, or pogo stick to a nearby destination. Exercise and eco-conscience.
Anything else? I'm sure I didn't cover it all. Leave a comment with your opinion. There are so many little things we can all do to reduce our carbon footprint, but it's going to take everyone to make a significant difference. And we can do it!
